Thankful For Another Day

There are probably a lot of days that pass and we forget to be thankful for another day. We get swept up in the fast pace of life and quickly forget that we aren't promised tomorrow. The following pictures were taken on the day we visited the Boone Plantation in Mount Pleasant, S.C. The bridge pictured above is called the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge and connects you from Charleston to Mt. Pleasant. Our morning had begun on the beach, then naps, and in the late afternoon we were off to  Boone Plantation. After visiting the plantation we had plans to go biking in the Palmetto State Park, but ran out of time. We were all hungry for dinner and decided to try P.F. Chang's for the first time. (Chinese at the beach? We know...a little weird, but it was amazing!) After a great dinner we shopped at a few outlets there and then headed back to our rental on Folley Beach. (Story continues below...)
We were about 8 miles from our vacation rental and stopped at a red light when we were hit from behind. The miracle is that Nadia slept through the accident and when the bikes blew out the back window none of the glass hit her (she is still rear-facing). God was our protection that night, but it's also crazy to think that had we not planned to go biking we wouldn't have had the bike trailer or bikes on, which really took most of the impact. Had they not been on the back, the impact could have been a lot worse for Nadia and us. We're thankful that everyone involved in the crash was not injured, that a police officer witnessed the accident, and we were able to get the back window quickly replaced the following day. As for the driver and his passenger, they were under the influence of alcohol and potentially another drug. We ask that you pray for them and that someone in their life would lead them toward Jesus Christ, our only hope. (Continues below...)

The accident itself was thankfully minor, but it's still a great reminder that we're not in control. We don't have a guarantee we'll make it to tomorrow. Our hope for family and friends who don't have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ is that our experience would be a reminder that He (God) alone is in control. Death and eternity isn't something to laugh about, shrug off, or think "you" have the answers, it's serious stuff. Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6) This is just one verse in the Bible and there are more that specifically state Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven, you either accept that verse or don't. You can't just believe parts of the Bible, it's all or nothing. That's the way a true believer's life should be, "live your life for Christ as if it's all or nothing".  For those searching for more answers or who have questions, the Bible's book of Romans and 1 John are great starters, as is the following book written by Francis Chan, Erasing Hell. We thank the Lord for another day and we love all of you, which is why we care enough to share these truths with you. Please talk to us if you have questions, we'd love to tell you how Christ has changed our lives and can change yours!

I Corinthians 15:55 -“O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?”
