WordPress Blog

We have switched to a new Blog: http://thevictorfamily.wordpress.com We will be using our WordPress blog as our means of updating you with the latest family news, adventures, trials, etc...

We hope you continue to enjoy and read about our fleeting life, may we glorify God with the time He has given us.

Psalms 144:4 - Man is like a breath; his days are like a passing shadow.

James 4:13-14 - Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”—yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.

Aven Grace Tedder - Our Niece

We are so happy to announce that we now have a niece, Aven Grace! Which means we are officially Uncle Justin, Aunt Joy, and Cousin Nadia! Aven was born on Friday, September 7th at 6lbs. 14 oz. and 19 inches long. She just missed her Uncle Justin's birthday. We are looking forward to when we can hold her and see Caleb and Cassie. Congrats guys, she's beautiful!

Cross International

For those of you who would like to give towards a ministry where the majority of your money goes directly to those in need, check out Cross International. Below is their link, mission statement, and explanation of where donations go/financial accountability.

"Cross International's priority is to help "the poorest of the poor." Our ministry began in Haiti, the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere and home to some of the most destitute people in our modern world. Efforts have since grown to reach those suffering extreme poverty in other Caribbean countries as well as countries throughout Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

Cross International locates needy church-based ministries serving the poor and distributes material aid through their existing programs. In this way, we can supply meaningful help where it is needed most. In all our work we remain dedicated in our service to the Lord as good stewards of his resources in every challenge we seek to overcome."

"At Cross International, we meticulously honor the intent of our donors. All proceeds are restricted for the specific project for which they are raised. In the rare event that more funds are received than are required for a specific project, the additional funds will be used to meet the most urgent needs of the poor.
We are committed to keeping our administrative costs low and maintaining high standards of accountability and ethics. We recognize that our witness to the Lord is undermined if we do not treat one another, our donors, our vendors, and other persons or organizations with honesty and respect. We recognize that how we conduct our ministry is just as important as what we accomplish because in all that we do or say, whether among the poor or among ourselves, we should do all for the glory of God."

L.U. Monogram Hike

Last Saturday morning, we hiked up to the L.U. monogram with the Trosper family. It was a beautiful day and view.

Camping with the Rose Family

It was an interesting night of camping out in our backyard with the Rose family and experiencing Lynchburg's Get Downtown!

A game of Acquire is always a fun event with Jeremiah and Kim. Especially in the morning after a night of poor sleep and sleeping on the ground, right guys?

Justin's 30!

We were able to surprise Justin with some close friends and family for his 30th.

Thred Up

I learned about this site from a friend and I love it. It's somewhat like Kidz Kraze because it's all used clothes, except you're buying the clothes on-line. I bought Nadia some cute fall clothes that totaled only $25. They sometimes have deals on their site too, for instance in August you could get 20% off your order, plus $10 off for joining, and right now, if you spend $40 you get free shipping. If your kiddos are in need of some clothes check it out, they have a lot of name brand clothing like Gap, Old Navy, Gymboree, Carter's, etc... for half the price. Also, if you use the link below and buy something I get a $10 credit for referring you.

House Projects

Projects, projects, and more projects. We've finished landscaping the sides of our house and will eventually have everything planted once we transplant some "special" plants from our previous home in the fall. We worked diligently on this, making sure we had a border and tons of weed guard down. Then we were able to do the fun part, planting.

We are hoping that our tulip bulbs will come up next year! We bought them last spring at a fundraiser downtown. They had previously been planted at the Lynchburg Public Library.

Since we moved in the middle of summer, most of the grass that was planted, died. So, we've (mostly Justin) been working diligently on getting some grass to come up, maybe by fall?

I've been enjoying some house decorating projects, now we just to figure out where to put all of our pictures and newly painted frames? We bought this frame from the Estate Specialist shop downtown and then painted it with (French Linen) Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. I still have a ton of more painting to do in regards to furniture, hopefully we'll have some more before and after pictures to show! If you're into painting, this paint is amazing, it can be used on mainly anything! I highly recommend it and if you're living in the Lynchburg area, check out the following business who sells it, they are so helpful! http://www.studioelevenlynchburg.com/

Lil' Friends

 Play dates are always fun!
Nadia, Elizabeth, Carson, Miriam, and Jude
Leia came to pay us a visit all the way from Chicago, along with her parents Brad and Jen. It was good to see them and catch-up.
Nadia and Ace are buddies, she can't get enough cuddle time with him!

Nadia's friend Eli is soon going to be one!

Fishin' in the Piney

It's always fun to go fishing when we're vacationing in Cedar Run. This year, Justin won, he caught the most and the biggest Smallmouth.

Cedar Run Family Vacation

 Psalm 24: 1-6
The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; for he founded it upon the seas and established it upon the waters. Who may ascend the hill of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place? He who has a clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to an idol or swear by what is false. He will receive blessing from the Lord and vindication from God his Savior. Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek your face, O God of Jacob.

The beauty of Cedar Run is always a refreshing escape into nature and takes us away from the fast-paced way of life.  We were able to enjoy Pine Creek, the Rails to Trails bike path, saw tons of wildlife, and had some quality family time.

This is a common occurance for Nadia, going for walks takes twice as long when she isn't in a stroller.

Icecream from the Cedar Run General Store is always a treat!

Opa Messing and Nadia
We saw five different Bald Eagles during our visit, amazing!
Gilespi Point, a tough hike, but worth the view.

Nadia sleeping from the hike, but who did most of the work? Fresh air does wonders for kids.
We saw only one bear during our stay, a yearling, who likes to steal birdseed.

Maverick loves water!

Hanging out with grandma in the creek
Bike rides normally have this affect on her, out cold.

We saw this guy during one of our bike rides, a nice size rattlesnake.
