We appreciate those of you who have been praying for Nadia and for her upcoming tests at U.V.A. This past Friday she underwent two tests, an ultrasound and a VCUG (Voiding Cystourethrogram). The doctors were very kind and did a great job of explaining everything to us. The results of these tests were that Nadia has Primary Vesicoureteral Reflux. In other words, this is when urine travels backward from the bladder toward the kidney. The doctors concluded that she has a 3+ reflux on a scale from 1-5, with 5 being the worst. We would appreciate your prayers as we consider our options and must literally wait. The specialist we saw highly recommended that we continue antibiotics in hopes that it would keep Nadia from getting another UTI or kidney infection, due to the reflux. The more infections, the more scarring of the tissues, thus possible kidney failure. At this point our options are to daily give her antibiotics until she possibly grows out of it, which could take 5 years, or not give her the antibiotics and hope she doesn't get anymore infections. If she does not grow out of it, we are looking at surgery in future. Please pray that the Lord would give us wisdom, as well as the doctors, and that Nadia would quickly grow out of the reflux and we would have a peace about what we should do concerning the antibiotics.
