Oberammeragau, Germany

Oberammeragau is best known for its wood carving and the Passion Play, which was taking place while we were there. The townspeople first performed the play in 1634 and is the result of a vow made by them to God, that if He would spare them from the bubonic plague they would peform the play every 10 years.

The outside of the building where the Passion Play is performed. Over 2,000 residents take part in bringing this play to life. The play itself is about seven hours long, with a meal break provided.
A monument in the cemetery dedicated to WWI and WWII soldiers.
